Here’s a simple example of how Billpaying works
Let’s say your bills total $17,400 a year. We work out how much you need to set aside by adding a 10% safety margin (a buffer) for bills to that are variable each time you get them (such as phone and electricity). In this example, you would need a total of $19,200 a year (which includes a monthly service fee) in your Billpaying account. If your salary is received fortnightly, you would deposit $738.46 each fornight (or $1600 per calendar month).
| Month | Deposits Made | Bills Paid | Account Balance |
| 1 | $1,600 | $1,095 | $505 |
| 2 | $1,600 | $1,595 | $510 |
| 3 | $1,600 | $1,420 | $690 |
| 4 | $1,600 | $2,095 | $195 |
| 5 | $1,600 | $1,175 | $620 |
| 6 | $1,600 | $540 | $1,680 |
| 7 | $1,600 | $1,395 | $1,885 |
| 8 | $1,600 | $3,545 | -$60 |
| 9 | $1,600 | $1,095 | $445 |
| 10 | $1,600 | $595 | $1,450 |
| 11 | $1,600 | $1,275 | $1,775 |
| 12 | $1,600 | $1,575 | $1,800 |
| TOTALS | $19,200 | $17,400 | $1,800 |
Generally you’ll always remember the big bills but sometimes forget about the little ones in between that also add up. So here’s a list of the most regular bills that people receive and which you might like to include in your BillPaying service: Calculate the regular payment amount Once you’ve chosen all the bills you’d like included in your BillPaying service, we calculate your regular payment about by adding all the bills together with a 10% safety margin to account for any variable bills (such as phone and electricity), plus the monthly service fee. We then work out the number of pay days you have each year, divide the total amount of all your bills by this number to get your regular payment amount and approve and finalise your bill paying agreement. Send us your bills We will start paying your bills once we have received one twelfth (1/12) of the total contract amount in your account. You might even decide to just pay this upfront in order to get started straight away. As you receive your bills, just drop them into the branch (or scan and email or fax them to us if more convenient) in sufficient time before the due date and we’ll pay them for you.
