Bruno joined the Board in April 2001. Bruno started his career with the then Isa Mine Employees’ Credit Union as Loans Manager in 1977 in Mount Isa, before being promoted to Assistant General Manager in 1979. In 1988 he transferred to Brisbane as General Manager Development. In late 1989 he became CEO before taking up the role of Managing Director in 2001. In January 2003, Bruno resigned as Managing Director, retaining his position on the Board, to take up the role of Managing Director of the Brisbane Broncos – a role he held until early 2011.
Karen initially joined the Board in 1997, serving for four years before resigning due to work commitments. Karen was subsequently reappointed to the Board in 2005. Karen has a wealth of knowledge in finance and started her career at a chartered accounting firm in Mackay. Karen has extensive experience within the mining and resources sector with a career spanning over 25 years. Karen has undertaken a variety of roles that have seen her work both in Australia and abroad.
In 2014 Karen was appointed as the Chief Financial Officer for the UDP Group, a consulting, engineering and project practice with offices located in Townsville, Mackay and Brisbane and services all areas throughout Queensland. Karen has been a Queensland Country Credit Union Member for over 20 years. She is passionate about the organisation, in particular our presence in rural and regional areas of Queensland.
Michael joined the Board in February 1985. Michael is Queensland Country Credit Union’s longest serving Board Member. Michael’s work as a chartered accountant assists the Board with the Credit Union’s complex financial reporting requirements. Michael is the Principal of a public accounting firm and has offices in Noosa and Mount Isa. Michael is the Chairman of the Queensland Country Health Fund Board.
Patricia joined the Board in November 2015. Patricia is the Chief Executive Officer of Townsville Enterprise, North Queensland’s peak economic and tourism body. Her diverse career includes four years heading up the Mount Isa Chamber of Commerce and three years as the General Manager of Tourism and Events at Townsville Enterprise. Patricia is a born and bred North Queenslander who has a passion for the region and a deep understanding of the issues and opportunities facing the north. In 2013 Patricia was awarded the Young Manager of the Year through the Australian Institute of Management. The Young Manager of the Year category recognises the most successful young entrepreneurs and business leaders up to the age of 30.
Deirdre was elected to the Board in November 2016. Deirdre brings a wealth of experience, having spent 18 years as an elected member of Local Government, four of these (2012-2016) as Mayor of Mackay Regional Council. She has also served as Chair, Company Secretary and Director on various companies.
Greg joined the Board in April 2017. Greg served as the Chairman of the ECU Australia Ltd Board until the merger of that organisation with Queensland Country in April 2017. Greg is a private client advisor with Bell Potter Securities in Cairns. Greg is born and raised in Far North Queensland.
John served as the Deputy Chair of the ECU Australia Ltd Board until the merger of that organisation with Queensland Country in April 2017. John has a strong background in financial services spanning over 30 years including senior key management positions with MyState, CUSCAL and Members Australia Credit Union. John has extensive board experience and he is currently a director of QBE Australia and Macquarie Point Development.
Tony served as a Director of the ECU Australia Ltd Board until the merger of that organisation with Queensland Country in April 2017. Anthony Williamson is the broker/owner of Remax Real Estate Services in Cairns. Previously an accountant with Price Waterhouse, Tony has been recognised both nationally and internationally for his achievements within the real estate industry.
Richard joined the Board in May 2017 and brings with him extensive executive leadership and strategy experience gained in domestic and international banking and across a broad range of diverse industries. Richard has significant experience in delivering business expansion, transformation and rationalisation across a range of business sectors including financial services, education and sports administration. He is also on a number of other high profile Boards including Holy Cross Laundry, Brisbane Broncos Leagues Club and Australia China Business Council (voluntary).
Aileen has had a career in Finance, including 13 years in Melbourne and Sydney. Aileen joined Queensland Country Credit Union in 1993 as an accountant. Aileen has held other senior roles within the credit union, including Administration Manager, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer and Deputy CEO and was appointed CEO in February 2009.
Colin has over 40 years of banking experience, including 25 year years in the credit union industry. During this time, he has occupied senior management positions at industry associations and at credit unions, as well as CEO at ECU and Deputy CEO in the merged Queensland Country entity.
CEO, Queensland Country Health Fund and Executive Manager People and Strategy
Aaron commenced at Queensland Country in 2000 as the mobile lending manager, before moving to the role of assistant loans manager. After a brief departure to Bank of Queensland, Aaron returned to Queensland Country as CU Direct manager in January 2004. After 3 years in this role, he was appointed to his current position as General Manager for the Health Fund. In 2012, Aaron also accepted the role of Deputy CEO. Aaron serves as a Director of HIRMAA, an industry representative body for Health Funds. In 2017, Aaron took on the role of CEO of Queensland Country Health Fund in recognition of the rapid growth of the fund, as well as the role of Executive Manager People and Strategy.
Chief Financial Officer
Petrice has been with Queensland Country since April 2002, when she joined as a Contract Accountant. In January 2003 she took up the role of Financial Controller and then moved into the Chief Financial Officer position in November 2007. Petrice studied commerce at JCU, becoming a CPA qualified accountant in 1999. Her career started in public practice as a tax accountant, before working overseas in London for two years. She joined Queensland Country upon her return to Australia.
Executive Manager, Corporate Services
Shawn has been with Queensland Country since October 2001 where he started out on a traineeship through Torgas at the Aitkenvale Branch. In early 2005 Shawn moved into the Credit Department to take on the role of Loans Securitisation Officer which he held for approximately two years. In mid-2007 Shawn moved into the Assistant Credit Manager role which he held for 18 months and then into the Credit Manager role which he held until February 2015. In February 2015 Shawn was appointed to the position of General Manager Support Service, a role which he had been relieving in for the last 18 months.
In September 2015 Shawn moved into a secondment role of General Manager Business Transformation to project manage the migration to the Data Action Core Banking system, before moving into the role of Executive Manager Corporate Services.
Executive Manager Retail Banking
Andrew McArdle joined the team in September 2015 as the General Manager for Retail Banking. Prior to joining us, Andrew worked as the General Manager for Sales and Distribution with another Queensland based financial institution for the past 2 and a half years and has many years’ experience within the banking industry working in a variety of roles including Retail Banking, State Office Management, Strategic Planning, Operations, Regulation, Compliance and Lending both Commercial and Retail. Andrew completed his degree in 1993 and his CPA qualifications in 1999.
