Bruno joined the Board in April 2001. Bruno has extensive experience with QCCU (1977-2003), having held management positions with the organisation from Loans and Finance Manager and Assistant General Manager through to Managing Director, a position he held for 14 years. Bruno was Managing Director of the Brisbane Broncos for over eight years (2003- 2011), and Chair/Director of the Queensland Academy of Sport for six years (2011-2017). Bruno also serves as a Director on the Queensland Country Health Fund Ltd Board and is the Board Chair of Krause Health and Safety Pty Ltd.
Christine joined the Board in April 2018. Christine is a highly experienced organisational development, public sector governance and executive leadership consultant, who is currently working with a range of national organisations on systems leadership, organisation change, leadership development and governance issues. Christine has conducted Board and governance reviews, has been a senior executive in Commonwealth and State public services, and has held several Board roles including President of IPAA Qld, Director of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Queensland Audit Office, QUT School of Business Advisory Board, and is recent past Chair of the Board of the Queenslanders Credit Union. Christine is an accredited facilitator for the Australian Institute of Company Directors courses for Board Chair and Directors, Chief Executives and executive managers. Christine also serves as a director on the Queensland Country Health Fund Ltd Board.
Karen initially joined the Board in 1997, serving for four years before resigning due to work commitments. Karen was subsequently reappointed to the Board in 2004. Karen has a wealth of knowledge in finance and started her career at a chartered accounting firm in Mackay. Karen has extensive experience within the mining and resources sector with a career spanning over 29 years. From 2014 to 2017, Karen was employed as the Chief Financial Officer for Premise (formerly known as 02UDP Group Pty Ltd), a consulting, engineering and project practice, with offices located in Townsville, Mackay, Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and PNG.
Karen has been a Queensland Country Credit Union Member for over 25 years. She is passionate about the organisation, in particular our presence in rural and regional areas of Queensland. Karen has extensive Board experience including the following current positions: Deputy Chair of Queensland Country Health Fund Ltd; Independent Chair of Mount Isa Water Board Finance and Audit Committee; Independent member of Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, North West Hospital and Health Service; and Chair of NQ Regional Council of CPA Australia.
Michael joined the Board in February 1985. Michael is Queensland Country Credit Union’s longest serving Board Member. Michael’s work as a chartered accountant assists the Board with the Credit Union’s complex financial reporting requirements. Michael is the Principal of a public accounting firm and has offices in Noosa and Mount Isa.
Michael is also the Chair of the Queensland Country Health Fund Ltd Board and Chair of the Queensland Country Care Navigation Pty Ltd Board.
Richard joined the Board in May 2017 and brings with him extensive executive leadership and strategy experience gained in domestic and international banking and across a broad range of diverse industries. Richard has significant experience in delivering business expansion, transformation and rationalisation across a range of business sectors including financial services, education and sports administration. Richard is CEO of a FinTech company and he is on a number of other high profile Boards including Brisbane Broncos Leagues Club and Australia China Business Council (voluntary).
Greg joined the Board in April 2017. Greg served as the Chair of the ECU Australia Ltd Board until the merger of that organisation with Queensland Country in April 2017. Greg is born and raised in Far North Queensland and is a private client advisor with Bell Potter Securities in Cairns. Greg has extensive Board experience which includes the following current positions: Director of Queensland Country Health Fund Ltd; Independent Chair of the Finance and Performance Committee, Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Board; Independent Chair of the Audit Committee, Cairns Regional Council; Director of St Michael’s School, Gordonvale; Member of St Michael’s Parish Finance Committee, Gordonvale; Independent Advisor to the Board of Cairns and Hinterland Hospital; Chair of Catholic Development Fund for Diocese of Cairns; and Chair of Audit Committee for Cairns Indigenous Art Fair.
Patricia joined the Board in November 2015. Patricia is the Chief Executive Officer of Townsville Enterprise, North Queensland’s peak economic and tourism body. Patricia’s diverse career includes four years heading up the Mount Isa Chamber of Commerce and three years as the General Manager of Tourism and Events at Townsville Enterprise. In February 2015, Patricia was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer of Townsville Enterprise and is a keen advocate for the North Queensland region. Born and bred North Queenslander, Patricia has a deep understanding of the issues and opportunities facing the North. In 2013, Patricia was awarded the Young Manager of the Year through the Australian Institute of Management and in 2018 was awarded the Australian Financial Review Young BOSS Executive of the Year. Patricia is also a director of Queensland Country Health Fund Ltd.
John joined the Board in April 2018. John has extensive knowledge of the credit union industry, having been the Chief Executive Officer of Queenslanders Credit Union from January 2007 until the merger of that organisation with Queensland Country Credit Union in April 2018. Prior to Queenslanders, John was the General Manager of the Ipswich based Discovery Credit Union for 27 years. John is actively involved in the Ipswich community and acts as the patron of a number of sporting and community groups.
Tony joined the Board in April 2017. Tony served as a Director of the ECU Australia Ltd Board until the merger of that organisation with Queensland Country in April 2017. Tony is the broker/owner of Remax Real Estate Services in Cairns. Previously an accountant with Price Waterhouse, Tony has been recognised both nationally and internationally for his achievements within the real estate industry. Tony is the Chair of the Northern Pride – ISC QRL Club.
Group Chief Executive Officer
Aaron has extensive experience in the banking and health fund industries. Commencing his career in banking at 18, Aaron has worked at Westpac, Metway Bank (which is now called Suncorp), and Bank of Queensland before settling in at Queensland Country in 2004. Aaron was appointed to the position of General Manager Health Insurance in 2007, and became the CEO of the Health Fund in January 2017.
Over the years, Aaron has been actively involved in developing long-term strategy for both Queensland Country Credit Union, which is the second largest credit union in Queensland, and Queensland Country Health Fund - one of the fastest growing insurers over the past five years.
Aaron serves as a Director on the Board of Members Health Fund Alliance, an industry representative body for Health Funds. He is a firm believer in the Member-owned structure where the shareholder is the customer, and giving back to the community.
Chief Financial Officer
Petrice has been with Queensland Country since April 2002, when she joined as a Contract Accountant. In January 2003 she took up the role of Financial Controller and then moved into the Chief Financial Officer position in November 2007. Petrice studied commerce at JCU, becoming a CPA qualified accountant in 1999. Her career started in public practice as a tax accountant, before working overseas in London for two years. She joined Queensland Country upon her return to Australia.
Executive Manager, Chief Risk Officer
Shawn has been with Queensland Country since October 2001 where he started out on a traineeship through Torgas at the Aitkenvale Branch. In early 2005 Shawn moved into the Credit Department to take on the role of Loans Securitisation Officer which he held for approximately two years. In mid-2007 Shawn moved into the Assistant Credit Manager role which he held for 18 months and then into the Credit Manager role which he held until February 2015. In February 2015 Shawn was appointed to the position of General Manager Support Service, a role which he had been relieving in for the last 18 months.
In September 2015 Shawn moved into a secondment role of General Manager Business Transformation to project manage the migration to the Data Action Core Banking system, before moving into the role of Executive Manager Corporate Services.
Executive Manager Retail Banking
Andrew McArdle joined the team in September 2015 as the General Manager for Retail Banking. Prior to joining us, Andrew worked as the General Manager for Sales and Distribution with another Queensland based financial institution for the past 2 and a half years and has many years’ experience within the banking industry working in a variety of roles including Retail Banking, State Office Management, Strategic Planning, Operations, Regulation, Compliance and Lending both Commercial and Retail. Andrew completed his degree in 1993 and his CPA qualifications in 1999.
Executive Manager Queensland Country Health Fund
Glenn has worked in a diverse range of General Management roles throughout Queensland Country prior to accepting the role of Executive Manager Queensland Country Health Fund in April 2019. With previous experience in Credit, Property, Transactional Services, IT, Branch Operations and the SmartBudget product, he is well equipped to assume responsibility for the operations of Queensland Country Health Fund – a wholly owned subsidiary of the Credit Union.
Glenn has a history of making significant contributions to the organisation, having assumed responsibility for project managing both the construction of the Queensland Country Centre in Townsville in 2014 and the successful merger with Queenslanders Credit Union in 2018. With an eye for opportunity, Glenn also led a project to commercialise and improve Queensland Country’s long term flagship product, BillPaying, to form a joint venture company which saw the product relaunched as the new and improved SmartBudget. Glenn became the CEO of this joint venture, putting his MBA from James Cook University to good use.
