Queensland Country’s commitment to community initiatives continues with today’s opening of their Queensland Country Good for Good Community Grant applications, which will see over $120,000 awarded to not-for-profit community groups across the state.

With over $2 million injected into community projects since 2005, Queensland Country’s grants program has been delivering much needed community projects for years.

Queensland Country Credit Union CEO, Aileen Cull, said that this year’s grants program saw the introduction of a charity partner which would allow grant recipients to fundraise in partnership with them.

“We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia and introduce them as our Charity Partner for 2018.”

“The revised Queensland Country Good for Good Community Grants program will ensure genuine benefits to Queensland Country Members with projects awarded on their benefits to the community and the ability for our grant recipients to pay it forward to another beneficial community.”

“Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia provides much needed support to families of seriously ill children who have travelled to Townsville for specialist treatment. While the house is based in Townsville, the areas they service cover the same footprint that we do across Queensland.”

The member-owned Townsville based bank understands the needs of Queenslanders and last year committed $92,500 in grant funding towards communities affected by March 2017s Cyclone Debbie and the intense storms that followed. The new grants platform has led the way to assisting more Queenslanders in need.

“With the capacity to host over 100 people under our roof each night, the ongoing support of local businesses such as Queensland Country is critical and goes a long way. Over the course of their stay, which can average 2-3 months or longer, we assist families with travel, clothing, food and other essentials they may need during a medical emergency. We also help care for sick kids across the North Queensland region through our Learning Program, Family Retreat and in-hospital Family Room.”

“We’re very excited to partner with Queensland Country Good for Good Community Grants and Queensland Country in general. We’ll also be working with Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland for those grant recipients who might be located further south and prefer to fundraise for the southern chapter.”
